ASHLAND, Va. – Sept. 17, 2014 – Linear Devices Corporation today announced the introduction of a new automatic leveling control for its Lectrotab electric trim tab systems.
The new microprocessor-based control adjusts your trim tabs to correct the pitch and roll and keep your boat level under changing sea conditions.
“As wave and wind conditions change, passengers move around and the boat changes its course or speed, the Lectrotab automatic leveling control adjusts the trim tabs to maintain a comfortable ride and improve fuel economy,” said Dan Roberts, president of Linear Devices Corporation, the company that designs and manufactures Lectrotab products. “It’s designed for planing and displacement boats 20 ft. and up.”
The control has LEDs that provide a visual display of tab positions. The LEDs automatically dim at night and brighten in sunlight. Dual control panels are available, for the helm and flybridge stations. You can take manual control at any time from either panel. The control panels are completely sealed, IP68 waterproof and UV protected against deterioration in sunlight.
Importantly, the microprocessor control will not allow trim tab corrections while the boat is turning to prevent dangerous overcompensation.
The trim tabs are automatically retracted whenever the boat is off plane or when using the optional key switch connection. When power is switched off the tabs are retracted and calibrated.
The Lectrotab automatic leveling control is easy to install and can be retrofitted on existing Lectrotab installations. It uses an internal GPS, so no external antenna or network is required. For single tab/actuator installations, the actuator connects directly to the display panel, eliminating the need for an external power module box. A feedback sensor for tab position is also not required.
The unit comes with a two-year warranty. All Lectrotab actuators have a lifetime warranty.
The automatic leveling control is CE approved for the European market.
