Florida based underwater lights and control systems manufacturer Shadow-Caster have been awarded the prestigious “NMEA Best New Product award” for their new Light Commander multi zone light controller.

To be launched to the international market at METS next month (stand 05.312), the IP67 Shadow-Caster Light Commander module is the world’s first lighting controller specifically designed to work via NMEA2000 and allows for complete lighting control on an MFD or via wifi on a tablet or smartphone, supporting up to 6 zones of lighting with 4 zones RGB or RGBW capable and with program options including multiple color fade, music sync and color rotation etc.

Shadow-Caster’s CEO Brian Rogers said “When we started developing digitally controllable underwater lights over a decade ago, there was an absence of industry standardized lighting control messages for the marine environment.

For many years we designed and developed our own set of control products to enable integration, and it was our team’s expertise in this field that has led to us being asked by the NMEA to develop a set of NMEA2000 lighting standards alongside the design team at Navico.

Since showing this product at IBEX a few weeks ago we have been overwhelmed by the interest we have received and we are now in discussions with some of the world’s largest boat builders who are keen to test and fit this new product.”
